WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman forward Emily Parker (Johnston, Iowa) has been named the Anaconda Patriot League Rookie of the Week after averaging 17 points and a 66.7 field goal percentage in two league games last week. She now has three Rookie of the Week honors under her belt, winning the last one on Dec. 27.
Parker scored 15 points and brought down four rebounds and tallied two blocks in the team's first game against Army last week. She then tied the team-high with 19 points and added six rebounds at Colgate. She hit seven field goals in each contest and went to the free throw line a total of nine times over the two games, sinking six shots for a 66.7 free throw percentage.
On the season, Parker averages 9.8 points and 5.7 rebounds. She has recorded 27 of the team's 47 blocks and is the only Crusader this season to have multiple blocks in one game. She ranks sixth in the Patriot League with a 2.1 blocks per game average.
Holy Cross returns to the court on Saturday, Feb. 4 against Lehigh. The Crusaders host the Mountain Hawks for a 1:00 p.m. contest at the Hart Center. The team will hold its annual "Think Pink Day" as part of the school-wide Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
