WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior forward Whitney Fremeau (Manchester, N.H.) has been named the Anaconda Patriot League Player of the Week after combining for 50 points in two Patriot League games last week. Fremeau notched 24 points in the win over Colgate on Jan. 26 and followed with a career-best 26 points against Lehigh on Jan. 29.
Fremeau went 17-for-34 from the floor in the two league contests, including 10 three-point shots made, seven of which came against the Mountain Hawks. She registered a career-best with her seven three-point shots made in nine attempts on Saturday. She also averaged a team-high 34.5 minutes, 25 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She tallied a team-high nine rebounds against Lehigh and tallied her best field goal performance, hitting 53.3 percent of her shots, against Colgate.
Currently, Fremeau leads the team with 13.9 points per game, also ranking third in the league, and adds 4.4 rebounds per game. She makes and takes the team's largest number of shots (124-for-305 from the floor) as well. Against league opponents, Fremeau averages 17.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. After her performances this week, Fremeau now has 972 career points, 28 shy of becoming Holy Cross' 27th 1,000 point scorer.
Holy Cross returns to action for the second Patriot League go-around on Feb. 5 against Lafayette. The Leopards visit Worcester for a 1:00 p.m. game at the Hart Center. The game will serve as the team's annual "Pink Zone Day" for breast cancer awareness.
