WORCESTER, Mass. -Holy Cross freshman Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) has been named Patriot League Rookie Runner of the Week for the week of September 29-October 5. Loftis had a season best time of 26:45.88 at the Murray Keatinge Invitational in Orono, Maine on October 5th. Loftis finished 48th out of 82 and was the first Crusader rookie across the line. This is the second time this season that Loftis has earned this honor.
The Murray Keatinge Invitational was Loftis's third meet of the 2008 season. On September 5th he placed sixth at the Blue Devil Invitational with a time of 28:06 and on September 19th he placed 52nd at the National Catholic Championship with a time of 26:49.
The Holy Cross cross country teams return to action on Saturday, October 11, competing in the New England Championship in Boston, Mass.
