Crusaders Return To Action At National Catholic Championship

  • Following a week off, the Crusaders will return to action on Friday, September 19, when they take part in the National Catholic Championship in Notre Dame, Ind.
  • Holy Cross opened the season with a stellar showing on Sept. 5 at the 2008 Blue Devil Invitational held at Central Connecticut. They defeated New Haven, Northeastern and Central Connecticut to finish first overall with 30 points.
  • Freshman Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, for competition from September 1-7. Loftis helped lead the Holy Cross men's cross country team to a first place finish at the Blue Devil Invitational, held in New Britain, Conn., on Friday, Sept. 5.
  • At the Blue Devil Invitational, Loftis had the fourth-best time on the team, and placed sixth overall. In the first meet of his collegiate career, he finished the eight-kilometer course in a time of 28:06. The victory was the second straight at the Blue Devil Invitational for the Crusaders, who also won the event in 2007.
