Holy Cross Enjoys Off Week Before National Catholic Meet

Schedule: Friday, September 19, at the National Catholic Championship, Notre Dame, Ind., 3:30 p.m.

  • The Holy Cross men's cross country team had a stellar showing this week as they participated in the 2008 Blue Devil Invitational held at Central Connecticut. They defeated New Haven, Northeastern and Central Connecticut to finish first overall with 30 points.
  • The victory was the second straight at the Blue Devil Invitational for the Crusaders, who also won the event in 2007.
  • Junior Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.) was the top finisher for Holy Cross as he finished the eight-kilometer course in a time of 26:50, only 20 seconds out of first place. Rougeot was also named the AT&T Crusader of the week on September 8, 2008.
  • Rougeot was followed by junior Tim Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) in fourth place (27:42), senior captain Brad Mish (Hadley, Mass.) in fifth place (27:54), freshman Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) in sixth place (28:06) and junior Garrett Huddy (Columbus, Ohio) in 12th place (28:33).
  • The Crusaders will return to action on Friday, September 19, when they take part in the National Catholic Championship in Notre Dame, Ind.
