Patriot League Preseason Poll Released

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's cross country team has been picked to finish eighth in the 2008 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Navy, who only lost last year's Patriot League championship meet by a single point, was picked to finish first as it earned 10 first-place votes and 94 overall points. American, who won its sixth consecutive Patriot League title in 2007, was picked to finish second tallying four first-place votes and 84 overall points. Army accumulated two first-place votes and 72 overall points as it was picked to finish third, followed by Bucknell (66 overall points), Lehigh (49 overall points), Colgate (40 overall points), Lafayette (26 overall points) and Holy Cross (16 overall points).
The men's cross country team is set to kick off the 2008 season when they travel to Central Connecticut on Saturday, September 6, for the Central Connecticut Invitational. The Crusaders return nine letterwinners and the top seven scorers from last year.
