Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's cross country team placed 10 members on the Men's Cross Country Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office.
Topping the list for the Crusaders was sophomore John Ortolani (Williamsville, N.Y.), who earned at 3.63 grade-point average in chemistry.
Joining Ortolani on the Men's Cross Country Academic Honor Roll are seniors Edward Hughes (Bangor, Maine) and Brendan Kearney (Haddonfield, N.J.), juniors Timothy Murphy (Wayne, N.J.) and Stephen Zolotas (Peabody, Mass.), sophomore Patrick Clifford (Haworth, N.J.) and freshmen Sean Murphy (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Michael Shaw (Fairfield, Conn.) and Brian Smerkers (Clifton Park, N.Y.).
A total of 62 student-athletes were named to the Men's Cross Country Academic Honor Roll. Leading the Patriot League was American with 12 recipients and Bucknell with 11. Tying for third was Holy Cross and Army with 10 each.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the seven League-sponsored fall championship sports.
