Crusaders Compete At New England Championship

Boston, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's cross country teams competed at the New England Championship on Friday, Oct. 8 at Franklin Park. The women's varsity team finished 19th with 516 points, the men came in 29th with 833 points and the women's junior varsity team placed 16th with 430 points.
Two seniors led the women's varsity squad. Erin Moseley (Carlisle, Mass.) finished 46th with a time of 19:01, while Kathryn Thornton (Burbank, Calif.) finished 62nd with a time of 19:11 .
Senior Jon Nieskens (Peterborough, N.H.) was Holy Cross' top finisher for the men's team, finishing 108th with a time of 26:43.
Junior Grace Doherty (Scranton, Conn.) finished 66th with a time of 20:54 to be the top runner for the women's junior varsity team.
Another notable runner for the men's team was sophomore Stephen Kress (Portland, Maine), who finished 143 rd with a time of 27:14.
Martin Fagan of Providence College finished first for the men's race with a time of 24:20, while Harvard representative Lindsey Scherf placed first in the women's varsity competition. Brown's Naja Ferjan won the individual competition for the women's junior varsity race with a time of 18:28.
Boston University was the overall winner of the women's varsity race with 50 points, while Providence ran away with the men's competition with 25 points. Williams won the junior varsity race with 48 points.
The Crusaders next meet is slated for Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Albany Invitational in Albany , N.Y.
