WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's cross country teams both finished sixth at the Patriot League Championships in Bethlehem, Pa. Saturday afternoon. Senior Brad Mish (Hadley, Mass.) and freshman Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) were top finishers for the Crusaders.
For the men's team, Mish completed the race 18th overall with a season-best time of 25:26. Also finishing in the 25th minute was junior Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.) (25:35) and junior Tim Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) (25:39). Sophomore Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) crossed the line with a time of 26:53, followed by freshman Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) at 26:59. Junior Garrett Huddy (Columbus, Ohio) and freshman Jack Heinrich (Tulsa, Okla.) were the final point scorers for the Crusaders, finishing in 27:02 and 27:26.
For the women's team, three Crusaders finished in the 22nd minute. Sutherland crossed the line at the 22:21 mark, followed by fellow freshman Elizabeth Humphries (Siler City, N.C.) (22:34) and senior Colleen Spilka (Hamden, Conn.) (22:53). Senior Elizabeth Alizzi (Syosset, N.Y.) completed the course in 23:03, closely followed by senior Alexandra Swiatocha (Mahopac, N.Y.) (23:19), sophomore Margaret Molloy (West Hartford, Conn.) (23:28) and freshman Sarah Mellea (North Arlington, N.J.) (23:30).
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, November 15, when they take part in the NCAA Northeast Regional in Bronx, N.Y.
