Cross Country Teams Finish Eighth At Patriot League Championship

Bethlehem, Pa. - The Holy Cross men's and women's cross country teams both took eighth place at the 2005 Patriot League Championship which was held at Lehigh. Taking first in the men's 8K race was American University while Bucknell got the win in the women's 6K race.
Leading the Crusader men was senior Timothy Murphy (Wayne, N.J.) in a time of 27:09 which put him in 46th place overall. Following Murphy were Brad Mish (Hadley, Mass.) and John Ortolani (Williamsville, N.Y.) in 51st and 52nd place, respectively. The men totaled 256 points on the day for the eighth place finish. Winning the race, American totaled 22 points.
For the Holy Cross women, freshman Elizabeth Alizzi (Syosset, N.Y.) paced the team once again in 43rd place with a time of 23:25. Right behind Alizzi were freshman Colleen Spilka (Hamden, Conn.) in 45th and sophomore Christie Kapothanasis (Westbrook, Maine) in 51st. The five total finishers for the women totaled 246 points. Bucknell totaled 42 points to win the women's race.
