Holy Cross Cross Country Teams Compete In New England Championship

BOSTON, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's cross country teams competed in the New England Championship on Saturday, October 11. The men finished 16th out of 47 teams, while the women finished 12th out of 45 teams.

Junior Tim Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Holy Cross men's team. Richard ran a season best time of 25:46 and finished 58th out of 315 runners. Also running season best times for the Crusaders was junior Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.), 25:55, junior Garrett Huddy (Columbus, Ohio), 27:03, and senior Sebastian Fidelus (Jersey City, N.J.) 27:33. Freshman Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn) tied his season best time of 26:45 and freshman Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y) finished in his second fastest time of the season, 26:44.

For the women's team, freshman Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) ran her second fastest time of the season, 18:41, and finished 38th out of 298 runners to lead the Crusaders. Finishing in the 19th minute for the Crusaders was freshman Elizabeth Humphries (Siler City, N.C.), 19:16, sophomore Jacqueline Imse (Simsbury, Conn.), 19:18, junior Claire Luke (Delmar, N.Y.), 19:27, senior Elizabeth Alizzi (Syosset, N.Y.), 19:29 and senior Alexandra Swiatocha (Mahopac, N.Y.), 19:48.

The Crusaders will return to action on November 1, when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Patriot League Championship.
