Men's Cross Country Set To Begin 2012 Season

  • The Holy Cross men's cross country team kicks off the 2012 season on Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Harry Lang Invitational at Colgate.
  • Juniors Greg Hamalian (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and Dylan Villescas (Las Cruces, N.M.) will serve as the captains of the 2012 squad. Last season, Hamalian ran a season-best time of 28:00 at the National Catholic Championship (Sept. 16) while Villescas led the team with a time of 27:07 at the New England Championship (Oct. 8). Villescas was one of two Holy Cross men's cross country student-athletes who competed at the NCAA Northeast Regional (Nov. 12), finishing with a time of 35:23.6.
  • The Crusaders are scheduled to take part in 11 races this fall, including the Patriot League Championship in Hamilton N.Y., hosted by Colgate, on Oct. 27.
  • Holy Cross returns 19 runners from last season while adding six freshmen to the roster. The senior class includes Dylan Leazes (Providence, R.I.), Kyle Shepard (White Plains, N.Y.), Brian Treadway (Albany, N.Y.) and Kevin Turner (Charlton, Mass.)
