BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) placed 37th to lead the Holy Cross men's cross country team to a 17th place finish at the Paul Short Invitational Brown Race on Friday afternoon. Iona took home the team title with 125 points, while the Crusaders finished 17th with 534.
Altenau finished in 17th place with a time of 26:24 in the 8k race. Sophomore Zach Maddigan (Middleboro, Mass.) was the second Crusader to cross the line, finishing in 57th place with a time of 26:39. Senior Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) placed 64th with a time of 26:45, sophomore Dylan Villescas (Las Cruces, N.M.) finished 154th with a time of 27:29, sophomore Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.) finished 222nd with a time of 28:08, freshman John Cicchitti (Warminster, Pa.) finished 271st with a time of 28:54 and sophomore Greg Hamalian (West Bridgewater, Mass.) rounded out the Holy Cross competitors with a 287th place finish in a time of 29:22.
The next race for Holy Cross will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8 when the Crusaders compete at the New England Championship.
