Holy Cross Takes Third At Blue Devil Invitational

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Holy Cross men's cross country team opened up the 2011 season by placing third at the Blue Devil Invitational, held at Central Connecticut State University. Sophomore Dylan Villescas (Las Cruces, N.M.) was the top finisher for the Crusaders, placing 10th in a time of 27:20. Southern Connecticut won the meet with 21 points, followed by Central Connecticut (46 points), Holy Cross 64 points) and New Haven (102 points).

Following Villescas, senior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) came in 14th (27:41) and freshman John Cicchitti (Warminster, Pa.) was 16th (27:49). Senior Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) and sophomore Zach Maddigan (Middleboro, Mass.) also had top 20 finishes for the Crusaders, with Loftis placing 18th (27:58) and Maddigan coming in 19th (28:12).

Holy Cross returns to action next Saturday, Sept. 10, when it takes part in the Bryant Invitational at 10:00 a.m.
