Holy Cross Men's Cross Country
Schedule: Friday, Sept. 2 at Blue Devil Invitational, New Britain, Conn., 4:30 p.m.
- The Holy Cross men's cross country team is scheduled to start the season at the Blue Devil Invitational on Sept. 2. The race is at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn., at 4:30 p.m.
- Seniors Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) and Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) will serve as captains for the 2011 season. Altenau and Loftis return to the course for their senior year after leading the men's team to a seventh place finish at the 2010 Patriot League Championship where Altenau was Holy Cross' top finisher with a 17th place finish and time of 25:30. Altenau recorded his best time of the season at the New England Championship with a team-best 28th place finish and time of 25:21, while Loftis recorded a season-best time of 26:27 at the National Catholic Championship.
- After this week's action, Holy Cross will take part in the Bryant Invitational (Sept. 10). The Crusaders will then compete in the National Catholic Championship at Notre Dame (Sept. 16) and the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational (Sept. 17). Holy Cross concludes the month of September with the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh (Sept. 30). The Crusaders return to action with the New England Championship in Boston (Oct. 8), with selected runners then taking part in the Pre-National Invitational at Indiana State (Oct. 16). Holy Cross will then head to Lehigh for the Patriot League Championship on Oct. 29. The Crusaders' schedule ends with the NCAA Northeast Regional (Nov. 12) and the IC4A and ECAC Championships (Nov. 19).
