Men's Cross Country Concludes Fall Slate

  • The Holy Cross men's cross country team wrapped up the 2010 season at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Madison, Conn. on Saturday, Nov. 13. Syracuse won the team title, while Iona's Leonard Korir took home the individual championship.
  • Junior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) and senior Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) raced for the Crusaders, finishing 92nd and 159th respectively. Navy's Andrew Hanko finished sixth overall to earn the final qualifying spot for the NCAA Championship.
  • Altenau's top finish at the Northeast Regional was the fifth time in six races this season that he has led the team, a feat he had only accomplished once in his first two seasons. Altenau also recorded a personal-best time of 25:21 at the New England Championship, earning him Patriot League Runner of the Week honors.
  • Seniors James Fletcher (Woburn, Mass.), Brendan Medeiros (Fall River, Mass.) and Bergan have completed their career on the cross country course for the Crusaders. All three will transition to the track for the 2010-2011 indoor season kicking off on Dec. 4 at the Alden Invitational.
