WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior captain Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) has earned one of seven spots on the inaugural men's cross country Academic All-Patriot League team, as voted on by the Patriot League's cross country sports information directors. To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport.
Bergan, a Political Science and Spanish double major, led the team with a 3.61 grade point average. At the 2010 Patriot League Championship, Bergan was the second Crusader to cross the line, placing 45th overall with a time of 26:31. Bergan has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times for cross country and three times for track and field.
The Academic All-Patriot League team was added for all sports beginning in the 2010-11 season to honor additional student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The men's cross country Academic All-Patriot League team has seven student-athletes to equal the size of the sport's All-Patriot League first team.
Holy Cross returns to action at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 13 in Madison, Conn. hosted by Yale and Fairfield.
