Crusaders Take A Break, Prepare For Mini Meet

  • The Holy Cross men's cross country team has one week off before its next event, the Central Connecticut Mini Meet in New Britain, Conn., on Saturday, Oct. 24. The race is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
  • Senior co-captain Tim Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) was the top Holy Cross performer at the New England Championship. He finished in 62nd place with a time of 25:50. Sophomore Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) was second across the line for the Crusaders. He took 70th in 25:53. Sophomore Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) finished 81st with a time of 26:00.
  • Richard was also the top finisher for Holy Cross at the New England Championship last year, when he finished in 25:46. Both Altenau and Loftis improved their times from last year's event. Altenau beat his 2008 time by 51 seconds, while Loftis improved by 45 seconds. The Crusaders took 16th last season.
  • Three Crusader freshmen participated in their first New England Championship. Kevin Turner (Charlton, Mass.) took 161st in 26:43, while Kyle Shepard (White Plains, N.Y.) and Dylan Leazes (Providence, RI.) tied for 221st with a time of 27:19.
