Holy Cross Men's Cross Country Selected Sixth in Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. -The Holy Cross men's cross country team has been selected to finish sixth in the 2009 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by conference coaches and sports information directors from around the league, it was announced today. Navy, last year's co-champion, was selected as the preseason favorite, garnering 95 points and 11 first-place votes. The Midshipmen edged out rival and fellow 2008 co-champion Army, which received 89 points and five first-place votes. American was third in the preseason poll with 69 points, followed by Lehigh in fourth place (61 points) and Bucknell in fifth (55 points). Holy Cross and Colgate tied for sixth in the preseason rankings with 31 points, and Lafayette was picked eighth with 15 points.

The Crusaders return 11 letterwinners and welcome six incoming freshman to the 2009 squad. Holy Cross opens its season Saturday, Sept. 12 when it travels to the Blue Devil Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
