WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's track and field squad has placed 20 student-athletes on the 2007 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by league officials. Leading the Crusaders were juniors Kevin Dowd (Broad Brook, Conn.) and Samuel Hutchings (Lakeville, Conn.), who were two of just eight male track and field student-athletes to earn 4.00 grade point averages during the spring semester. Holy Cross' 20 total selections to the Academic Honor Roll were the second most in the conference.
In addition to Dowd and Hutchings, representing the Crusaders are seniors Christopher Bier (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), Stephen Kress (Portland, Maine) and John Ortolani (Williamsville, N.Y.); juniors Nathaniel Couture (Taunton, Mass.), Alex Ignachuck (Maynard, Mass.), Conor Meikle (Newport, R.I.) and Sean Murphy (Shrewsbury, Mass.); sophomores Robert Farrelly (East Northport, N.Y.), Sebastian Fidelus (Jersey City, N.J.), Andrew Maggio (Chelmsford, Mass.), Stephen Mandravelis (Nashua, N.H.), Brad Mish (Hadley, Mass.), Terrence Regan (Northport, N.Y.) and Stephen Schoenberger (North Hampton, N.H.); and freshmen Jason Baillio (Franklin, Mass.), Sean Connolly (Ossining, N.Y.), Garrett Huddy (Pataskala, Ohio) and Chase Kennedy (Marblehead, Mass.).
A total of 126 student-athletes from men's track and field teams around the league earned spots on this year's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter.
