Worcester, Mass. - Freshman Timothy Richard (Attleboro, Mass.), a distance runner on the Holy Cross men's indoor track team, earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week for his efforts in the Fordham Invitational. Richard competed in the 3000m run in Friday's invitational, crossing the line in 9:00.98. He placed seventh in the event and gave the Crusaders two of their eight total points on the day.
The Fordham Invitational was the first time that Richard competed for the Holy Cross indoor track team, but it was not his first time in a Crusader uniform. Richard is already a letter winner in Cross Country. In the fall, Richard was the first Crusader across the line in four of the team's seven meets. At the Murray Keatinge Invitational on September 30, 2006, Richard ran his personal best of 26:35.35 on the 8K course.
The Holy Cross men's indoor track team returns to action on Friday, January 12 at the Rhode Island Invitational in Kingston, Rhode Island. The men's meet is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.
