Boston, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's track and field team competed at weekend one of three at Boston University's Mini Meet series. Only six events were run in Saturday's meet, including the 200m, one mile, 400m, 800m, 3000m and pole vault. Senior John Meikle (Newport, R.I.) and sophomore Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.) both took firsts in their events.
Meikle competed in the pole vault continuing his successful season with a first place finish at 12' 6.25". Rougeot took the Crusaders other first of the day, winning the 3000m race with a time of 8:43.31. Also in the 3000m, sophomore Timothy Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) finished third with a time of 8:56.32. In the 200m, senior Sean Murphy (Shrewbury, Mass.) finished in the top 10, coming in seventh with a time of 23.39. Freshman teammate Richard Waldmann (Stony Brook, N.Y.) also finished in the top 10, placing ninth with a time of 23.52. Murphy and Waldmann would both finish in the top 10 again during the 400m race. Waldmann was third with a time of 50.65, while Murphy came in fourth with a time of 50.85.
The men's and women's teams will travel to Boston University on Saturday, December 22, to continue the Boston University Mini Series that will conclude on December 29. The meet is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
