Easton, Pa. - The Holy Cross men's and women's track and field team competed at the Patriot League Track and Field Championship, Friday-Saturday, May 6-7 on the campus of Lafayette.
In the women's 10,000-meter run Senior Elizabeth Desmond (Portland, Maine) finished third with a time of 37 minutes, 30.13 seconds. Senior John Nieskens (Peterborough, N.H.) came in sixth in the men's 10,000-m with a time of 31:09.67.
The men's 4x400-m relay team placed fourth with a time of 3:21.63. In the decathlon junior Stephen Virgilio (Portland, Maine) finished fifth with 5,390 points. Senior Bethany Miczek (Leicester, Mass.) placed sixth in the heptathlon with 3,816 points. Freshman Amanda Dupuis (East Sandwich, Mass.) came in eighth in the event with 3,489 points, while sophomore Kerilyn Anderson (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) placed ninth with 3,409 points.
Freshman Courtney Walls (Tewksbury, Mass.) tied for sixth with after clearing 3.20-m in the women's pole vault. Also competing in the event was junior Jessica Fallon (Nashua, N.H.), who finished eighth with a height of 3.20-m and senior Kaitlin Palmer (Hampton, N.H.), who placed ninth with a height of 3.05-m.
Running in the men's 800-m was senior Brendan Kearney (Haddonfield, N.J.), who placed seventh with a time of 1:54.69. Senior Lindsey Bomar (Bristol, Conn.) placed 10th in the women's 800-m with a time of 2:18.57, while senior Brenna Flynn (Wenham, Mass.) was 10th in the 1,500-m with a time of 5:04.44. In the long jump newcomer Lynn Barowski (Merrimack, N.H.) came in 10th with a distance of 5.02-m.
Freshman Nathaniel Couture (Taunton, Mass.) threw 54.02-m to place seventh in the men's javelin, while in the women's event, freshman Christie LeTarte (Lunenburg, Mass.) placed ninth with a distance of 31.86-m.
Overall, Holy Cross' men's and women's teams placed eighth. The Patriot League women's outdoor track and field winner was Bucknell, while Army grabbed the top spot on the men's side.
