Providence, R.I. - The Holy Cross men's track and field team competed at the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday.
Leading the Crusaders in the hammer throw was sophomore Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.), who place second with a distance of 49.82-meters. Also competing in the event was junior Stephen Laney (Cohasset, Mass.), who threw 36.06-m to finish ninth, newcomer Alex Ignachuck (Maynard, Mass.), who threw 35.44-m to place 10th and Samuel Hutchings (Lakeville, Conn.), who placed 11th with a distance of 33.02-m.
Freshman Nathaniel Couture (Taunton, Mass.) finished third in the javelin throw with a distance of 56.26-m, while freshman Patrick McGuire (Franklin, Mass.) leaped 12.04-m to finish sixth in the triple jump.
Sophomore Christopher Bier (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) placed ninth in the 110-m hurdles with a time of 17.16, as Ignachuck came in 10th in the shot put, heaving 10.55-m.
The Crusaders next compete at the Patriot League Championship, Friday-Saturday, April 6-7 in Easton, Pa.
