Dedham, Mass. - The men's and women's track and field team opened up their outdoor season at the Husky Invitational meet held in Dedham, Mass today. The women had 36 top ten finishers, 20 of which were top five and the men had 14 top 10 and eight top five.
Top placers for the women's team was sophomore Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) in the 100-meter with a finishing time of 12.89 to take first place. She also finished first in the 200-meter with a time of 26.72. Another first place finish was junior Dannielle Meder (Chicopee, Mass.) in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.53.
Taking seconds for the day was freshman Caitlin White (Miller Place, N.Y.) in the 200-meter with a time of 27.71, sophomore Sarah Croteau (Westminster, Mass.) in the 5000-meter with a time of 18:56.24, senior Amanda Dupuis (East Sandwich, Mass.), sophomore Claire Luke (Delmar, N.Y.) in the 3000-meter with a time of 12:29.63 and senior Lynn Barowski (Merrimack, N.H.) in the long jump with a distance of 15-08.75.
For the men top place finishers were senior Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.) in the 5000-meter with a first place finishing time of 15:35.26 and junior Brad Mish (Hadley, Mass.) in the 1000-meter with a time of 31:55.76.
Junior Andrew Maggio (Chelmsford, Mass.) took second in the 400-meter with a time of 50:90. Finishing in third today was junior Robert Farrelly (East Northport, N.Y.) in the 3000-meter with a time of 11:01.46, senior John Meikle (Newport, R.I.) in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet and senior Patrick McGuire (Franklin, Mass.) in the triple jump with a distance of 40-01.25.
Crusaders will compete again March 29 at Amherst, Mass. Start time is set for 11:30 a.m.
