Holy Cross Track & Field Competes At Championships

BOSTON, Mass - Senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland) broke her own Holy Cross school record in the pole vault as the Holy Cross men's and women's track and field teams competed in championship events on Saturday-Sunday, March 7-8. The women's team participated in the ECAC Division I Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track in Boston, Mass, while the men's team competed in the IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Boston University.
At the ECAC Championships, Bautista took 10th place in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.70 meters (12'1.5"). The 4x800 relay team, ran by sophomore Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.), junior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.), freshman Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) and senior Alexandra Swiatocha (Mahopac, N.Y.), finished in fifth place with a time of 9:03.31. Senior Katherine Clifford (Norwood, Mass.) competed in the weight throw, finishing in 20th place with a distance of 13.50 meters.
At the IC4A Championships, the men's distance medley relay, ran by junior Timothy Richard (Attleboro, Mass.), senior Andrew Maggio (Chelmsford, Mass.), senior Sebastian Fidelus (Jersey City, N.J.) and junior Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.), finished in 25th place with a time of 10:16.07.
The Holy Cross track and field teams have concluded the indoor season and will open the outdoor season on March 21 at the Husky Spring Invitational in Dedham, Mass.
