BOSTON, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's indoor track and field teams took part in the New England Championships on over a two day period that finished on Saturday afternoon. The Crusader women finished 25th of 32 teams as the men failed to pick up any points.
The women's team was lead by senior Jessica Fallon (Nashua, N.H.), who tied for sixth place in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.45 meters. Fallon earned two and half points towards the team total with the finish.
In the 4x400-meter relay event, the Holy Cross women took eight overall with a time of 3:59. 79. The finish earned one point which was the rest of the Crusader total combined with those earned by Fallon.
Two Crusader women missed qualifying for the finals by a single spot. Senior Emily Winacoo (Holden, Mass.) finished 11th in the 500-meter run and sophomore Lynn Barowski (Merrimack, N.H.) too 11th in the long jump with a leap of 4.99 meters.
Also, Junior Kerilyn Anderson (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) finished ninth in the women's indoor penthlon with 2814 points.
For the men, junior Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.) took 10th overall in the qualifying round of the weight throw with a toss of 15.94 meters.
The 4x400-meter relay team finished 13th with a time of 3:21.72. Also, senior Robert Leader (Leominster, Mass.) took 13th in the 400-meter dash qualifying round.
Both Holy Cross teams will compete next weekend. The men will take part in the IC4A Indoor Championships in Boston starting Saturday, March 4 at 10:00 a.m. The Crusader women will also compete in Boston beginning Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the ECAC Indoor Championships.
