Holy Cross Track Competes At MIT Invitationals

Cambridge, Mass. - The men's and women's track and field team traveled to Cambridge Mass. this weekend to compete in the MIT coed invitational. There were no team scores but Holy Cross had four first place finishes and 10 top five finishes. Sophomore Timothy Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) led the men with two first place finishes for the day. For the women, junior Katherine Clifford (Norwood, Mass.) was the only Crusaders from the women's team to finish first.
Richard finished first in the one mile run with a time of 4:29.08. He also was apart of the 4x800 meter relay team that had a first place finishing with a time of 8:33.78. Another first place finish was junior Stephen Mandravelis (Nashua, N.H.) in the men's weight throw with a distance of 50-02 feet.
Clifford finished first in the women's weight throw with a throw of 48 feet. Right behind her, taking second, was sophomore Rachel Amaral (Raynham, Mass.) with a toss of 47-00.75 feet.
The Crusaders compete in the Patriot League Championship February 22 in Lewisburg, Pa. Start time is set for 12:00 p.m.
