Men's Indoor Track and Field Competes in Boston Indoor Games

Boston, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's indoor track and field team competed at the Boston Indoor Games in Boston, Mass. on Friday afternoon. The Crusaders competed against UConn, UNH, UMass Amherst, Boston College, Vermont, Hartford and host Northeastern. Holy Cross took ninth place with 17 total points on the day. UConn won the meet with 212.83 points.

Junior Michael Ricotta (Cross River, N.J.) qualified for the finals of the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.77 seconds. His time of 7.31 in the finals earned him eighth place. In the 55-meter hurdles, senior Christopher Bier (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) made it to the finals with a time of 8.42 in the preliminaries. His time of 8.53 seconds in the finals took seventh place.

Sophomore Brad Mish (Hadley, Mass.) took ninth in the 1000-meter run, crossing the line in 15:22.24. Freshman Timothy Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) ran the event in 15:27.12, taking 11th spot.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the Holy Cross entry of freshman Chase Kennedy (Marblehead, Mass.), sophomore Andrew Maggio (Chelmsford, Mass.), junior Sean Murphy (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Ricotta ran the event in 3:30/60, finishing in seventh place.

In the field events, junior Conor Meikle (Newport, R.I.) cleared 3.96m, putting himself in a tie for seventh place in the event. Sophomore Jonathan Medeiros (New Bedford, Mass.) threw 14.22m in the shot put, landing himself in seventh place. Freshman Nicholas LeBlanc thew 13.41 in the event and finished in ninth. Senior Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.) took sixth place in the weight throw, throwing a distance of 15.76m.

The Holy Cross men's indoor track and field team travels to Orono, Maine on Saturday, February 3 to take on the University of Maine. The meet is scheduled to start at 12:00 pm.
