Holy Cross Places Third At UNH Invitational

Durham, N.H. - The Holy Cross men's indoor track and field team placed third at the New Hampshire Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 22 on the campus of the University of New Hampshire.
In the weight throw event sophomore Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.) threw 14.75 meters to place first. Carr also competed in the shot put and hit 12.78 meters to finish fifth. Also competing in the weight throw was junior Stephen Laney (Cohasset, Mass.) who place fourth with a distance of 12.15 meters.
Junior Ryan Daniel leaped 1.85 meters to place second in the high jump, as freshman Kevin Dowd (Broad Brook, Conn.) hit 1.70 meters for sixth place.
Junior Patrick Jones (Danvers, Mass.) ran the 500 meter run in 1 minute and 9.41 seconds to finish in third place.
Senior Brendan Kearney (Haddonfield, N.J.) came in third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.99.
Sophomore Christopher Bier (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) placed third in the 55 meter hurdles finals with a time of 8.09.
Holy Cross jumpers finished third, fourth and fifth in the triple jump. Freshman Patrick McGuire (Franklin, Mass.) jumped 12.38 meters, as Ryan leaped a distance of 12.23 meters, with Dowd hiting 12.22 meters.
In the 200 meter dash junior Robert Leader (Leominster, Mass.) placed fourth with a time of 23.83.
Both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams placed fourth with a time of 3:40.27 and 8:48.69, respectively.
Sophomore Corey Glidden (Clinton, Conn.) finished fifth in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.82.
Newcomer Michael Ricotta (Cross River, N.Y.) came in sixth place in the 400 meter run after completing the distance in 53.81.
In the 1000 meter run, senior John Nieskens (Peterborough, N.H.) finished sixth with a time of 2:44.54.
Junior Andrew Stone (Hudson, Mass.) leaped 6.19 meters to place sixth in the long jump.
The Crusaders next compete at Maine on Saturday, Feb. 5, in Orono, Maine.
