Men's Indoor Track and Field Team Competes at UNH

Durham, N.H. - The Holy Cross men's indoor track and field team traveled to Durham, N.H. to take on UNH and UMass on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders competed in all 18 events and took second place on the day. Holy Cross earned a total of 100 points on the day. Host UNH won the meet with 151 points and UMass took third with 92 points. Sophomore Andrew Maggio (Chelmsford, Mass.) took second in the 200m dash, crossing the line in 23.80. Junior Michael Ricotta (Cross River, N.Y) placed second in the 400m run, covering the distance in 52.00 seconds. In the 500m run, junior Sean Murphy (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished in 1:09.28, placing second.
Senior Christopher Bier (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) ran the preliminaries for the 55m hurdles in 8.33 seconds and he matched that time in the finals, taking second place. In the 55m dash, Maggio took third, crossing the line in 6.75 seconds. In the 1000m run, sophomore Sebastian Fidelus (Jersey City, N.J.) finished in 2:40.86 and in fourth place as freshman teammate Joshua Lisecki (Warren, Mich.) took sixth, covering the distance in 2:55.06. Freshman Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.) paced the Crusaders in the 1500m run, finishing in sixth in 4:12.38. Fellow classmate Timothy Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) took eighth place in the event, running the distance in 4:13.83. Sophomore Brad Mish (Hadley, Mass.) took fourth in the 3000m run, crossing the line in 8:52.99.
In the field events, junior Kevin Dowd (Broad Brook, Conn.) cleared 1.79m in the high jump, putting him in a three-way tie for second place. Junior Conor Meikle (Newport, R.I.) reached a height of 3.96m in the pole vault, taking third place. Junior Thomas Harrison was the highest placing Crusader in the long jump, jumping 6.01m finishing in seventh place. Teammate Eddie Hairston (Dorchester, Mass.) took eighth in the event with a jump of 5.97m. Sophomore Jonathan Medeiros (New Bedford, Mass.) took second in the shot put with a distance of 14.08m. Freshman Nicholas LeBlanc (New Bedford, Mass.) finished in third place, throwing a distance of 13.84m. Senior Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.) led the Crusaders in the weight throw, throwing 16.03m and taking second place. Sophomore Stephen Mandravelis (Nashua, N.H.) threw 14.76m and took third place. Mederios took fourth (12.85m) as junior Samuel Hutchings (Lakeville, Conn.) took fifth (12.75m) and LeBlanc finished sixth (11.55).
The Holy Cross men's indoor track and field team is back in action on Friday, January 26 at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games in Boston, Mass. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
