Crusaders Compete At Yale Classic

New Haven, Conn. - The Holy Cross men's indoor track and field team competed at the Yale Collegiate Track Classic on Saturday, Jan. 15.

The top men's runner was junior Timothy Murphy (Wayne, N.J.), who placed 13th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:03.94. Also running in the event was senior Sean Dougherty (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), who finished 21st with a time of 2:08.26.

Competing in field events, freshman Kevin Dowd (Broad Brook, Conn.) placed seventh in the triple jump, leaping 12.25 meters and ninth in the long jump with a distance of 5.98 meters. Freshman Samuel Hutching (Lakeville, Conn.) placed 14th in the weight throwing, heaving 10.76 meters.

In the 60 meter dash sophomore Corey Glidden (Clinton, Conn.) placed 17th with a time of 7.36 seconds. Newcomer Michael Shaw (Fairfield, Conn.) also finished 17th, but in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:52.75.

Freshman Michael Ricotta (Cross River, N.Y.) and junior Michael Yatco (Williston Park, N.Y.) ran in the 400 meter dash, finishing 20th and 22nd, respectively. Ricotta finished with a time of 53.92 seconds, while Yatco was closed behind at 54.36 seconds.

Senior James McKeon (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) placed 21st in the one mile run with a time of 4:48.39. Sophomore John Ortolani (Williamsville, N.Y.) came in 27th in the event with a time of 4:57.81.

Holy Cross travels to New Hampshire to compete at the UNH Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 22.
