Men's Track & Field Begins Competition At PL Championship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The 4x800 meter relay team led the Holy Cross men's track and field team on the first day of competition at the 2014 Patriot League Outdoor Championship on Friday at Navy with a fourth place finish and IC4A qualifying time of 7:40.34. The team was comprised of sophomore Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.), senior Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.) sophomore Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) and senior Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.).

Senior Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) led the Crusaders on the track with an eighth place finish in the 110 meter hurldes to qualify for tomorrow's final heat with a time of 15.00 seconds. Junior John Cicchitti (Warminster, Pa.) added a seventh place finish in the 10,000 meter run and time of 32:40.56. Senior Amenawon Johnson (Framingham, Mass.) also competed in the first day of the decathlon with his best performance coming in the shot put where he finished eighth with a distance of 10.15 meters.

Navy currently leads the team standings with a score of 82 points. The 2014 Patriot League Outdoor Championship will conclude tomorrow, May 3, with action set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
