Men's Track And Field Suffers 106-71 Defeat At Maine

ORONO, Maine – Three Crusaders posted first place finishes as the Holy Cross men's track and field team fell the Maine on Saturday afternoon by a final of 106-71. Senior Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) won the 500-meter run with a time of 1:05.13, sophomore Dennis Muldoon (Weymouth, Mass.) took first in the 3,000-meter run (8:33.03) and sophomore Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) won the pole vault with a height of 4.60 meters.

Other top finishers for Holy Cross included senior Ross Davies (Salem, N.H.) who finished second in the 60 (7.22), sophomore Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.) who took second in the 400 (51.23) and junior Jake Griffin (Billerica, Mass.) who finished second in the 800 (2:01.31). Junior Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) was the runner-up in the 1,000 (2:33.47), sophomore Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) placed second in the one mile (4:22.25) and senior Paul Coulter (Lakeville, Mass.) took second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.55).

In the field events, senior Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) finished second in the high jump with a height of 1.83 meters. The 4x400-meter relay team comprised of McGrath, senior Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.), senior Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and freshman Michael Andre (Feeding Hills, Mass.) finished second at 3:27.76 and the 4x800-meter relay team of freshman Benjamin Ghiano (Iselan, N.J.), sophomore Chris Conley (Walpole, Mass.), junior John Cicchitti (Warminster, Pa.) and freshman Henry Dodge (Rumford, R.I.) also took second at 8:24.23.

The men's indoor track and field team will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Valentine Invitational at 9:00 a.m.
