BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and sophomore Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.) led the Crusaders taking the top two spots in the 800-meter run at the Joe Donahue Games on Friday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. Both McGrath and Keefer surpassed IC4A qualifying standards as McGrath led the field with a time of 1:53.86 and Keefer crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 1:53.93.
Other top-five finishers for Holy Cross included sophomore Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) who took fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.55 meters, senior Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) who finished fifth in the final of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.42 seconds and junior Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) who placed fifth in the weight throw with a career-best distance of 15.90 meters.
The 4x400-meter relay team comprised of junior Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.), McGrath, junior Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) and Keefer finished second with a time of 3:23.32. Dutton added a seventh place finish behind McGrath and Keefer in the 800 (1:56.10), seniors Amenawon Johnson (Framingham, Mass.) and Zach Maddigan (Middleboro, Mass.) finished seventh (12.67 meters) and eighth (11.61 meters), respectively, in the triple jump and junior Jereme Murray (State College, Pa.) and senior Ross Davies (Salem, N.H.) both finished with a time of 7.24 seconds to take ninth and 10th place in the 60-meter dash.
The men's indoor track and field team will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 1, for an 11:00 a.m. meet at Maine.
