Men's Track & Field Concludes Patriot League Championship
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) led Holy Cross as men's track and field team wrapped up the 2013 Patriot League Outdoor Championship on Saturday, hosted by Lehigh. Dunn finished in third place in the pole vault on day one of competition with a height of 4.50 meters. The Crusaders finished in eighth place with 10 team points. Bucknell won the team championship with 184 points, followed by Army (170) and Navy (159).
Freshman Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) was the top individual Holy Cross finisher on the track, taking ninth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:01.08. Sophomore Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) took 12th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.88. Freshman Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.) was the top Crusader finisher in the 800-meter dash, taking 13th with a season-best time of 1:55.42.
The 4x100-meter relay team comprised of sophomore Vuong Tran (Worcester, Mass.), freshman Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.), sophomore Mike Techiera (Foxboro, Mass.) and Galasso finished sixth with a sesaon-best time of 42.62. The 4x400-meter relay team of Galasso, junior Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.), Tejidor and senior Nick Poles (Quincy, Mass.) took seventh with a time of 3:27.81.
On day one of competition yesterday, the 4x800-meter relay team comprised of Keefer, sophomore Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.), junior Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and junior Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) took home fifth place with a time of 7:41.68. Junior Thomas St. Cyr (Temple, N.H.) posted a new career-fastest time of 15.57 in the 110-meter hurdles, taking 11th place, while fellow classmate Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) finished just one one-hundredth of a second behind St. Cyr in 12th place at 15.58 seconds, also marking a new career-best.
Qualifying members of the men's track and field team will return to action on Friday and Saturday, May 10-11, at the New England Outdoor Championship.
