BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) finished tied for second overall in the pole vault with a height of 4.50 meters as the men's track and field team opened up competition at the 2013 Patriot League Championship on Friday, hosted by Lehigh. Dunn earned seven of the team's nine points as the Crusaders are currently in fifth place. Navy is out to the early lead in the team standings with 51 points.
Other top performers for Holy Cross included junior Thomas St. Cyr (Temple, N.H.) who posted a new career-fastest and team season-best time of 15.57 in the 110-meter hurdles, taking 11th place. Fellow classmate Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) finished just one one-hundredth of a second behind St. Cyr in 12th place at 15.58 seconds, also marking a new career-best.
The 4x800-meter relay team comprised of freshman Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.), sophomore Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.), junior Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and junior Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) took home fifth place finish with a time of 7:41.68, earning two team points.
Sophomores Mike Techiera (Foxboro, Mass.) and Vuong Tran (Worcester, Mass.) crossed the finish line in 12th and 13th, respectively, in the 100-meter dash preliminary with times of 11.39 and 11.49, respectively.
The men's track and field team will wrap up the 2013 Patriot League Championship tomorrow, Saturday, May 4, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
