Men's Track & Field Competes At Dick Shea Open And Snowflake Classic

WORCESTER, Mass. – The men's track and field team split up on Saturday as select members participated in the Snowflake Classic, hosted by Tufts, while others went to the Dick Shea Open, hosted by Army. Freshman Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) finished third in the pole vault at the Dick Shea Open while sophomore Brian Wheeler (Malden, Mass.) led the Crusaders at the Snowflake Classic. 

At the Dick Shea Open in West Point, N.Y., Dunn posted a height of 4.45 meters to record Holy Cross' best finish of the day.  Freshman Rob Cacace (Yonkers, N.Y.) also finished fourth in the javelin throw with a distance of 41.47 meters.

Other top performers of the Crusaders included junior Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) who took seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 15.66 seconds and Joe Murphy (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) who finished 11th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:23.54. Cacace also took seventh in the shot put with a distance of 12.25 meters.

At the Snowflake Classic in Somerville, Mass., Wheeler finished sixth in the javelin with a career-best throw of 49.16 meters. Sophomore Vuong Tran (Worcester, Mass.) finished 12th in the 100-meter dash with a career-best time of 11.46 seconds.

Select members of the men's track and field team will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 5-6, at the Duke Invitational. Other team members will travel to New Hampshire on Saturday, April 6.
