Holy Cross Competes In Second Day Of Patriot League Indoor Championship
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The men's track and field team completed the first day of full team competition on Saturday afternoon at the Patriot League Indoor Championship, hosted by Army. Navy leads the way with 54.50 team points, followed by Bucknell (44 points) and Lehigh (33 points). The Crusaders are currently in seventh place going into tomorrow's action.
Junior Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) led Holy Cross on the track, setting a new career-best time in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.52 seconds. Moczula just missed qualifying for tomorrow's final heat, taking ninth place in the preliminaries.
The 4x800-meter relay team comprised of sophomore Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.), freshman Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.) and juniors Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) took home a fourth place finish with a time of 7:45.83. Sophomore John Cicchitti (Warminster, Pa.) set a new career-best time in the 5,000-meter run at 15:34. 67. Freshman Rob Cacace (Yonkers, N.Y.) finished the second and final day of competition in the Heptathlon, taking 10th place with a score of 3.930.
The third and final day of competition at the Patriot League Indoor Championship is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Feb. 17, at 12:00 p.m.
