Men's Indoor Track And Field Competes In Dual Meet At New Hampshire
Durham, N.H. – Junior Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) finished first in the 1,000-meter run as the Holy Cross men's indoor track and field team fell to New Hampshire on Saturday, 120-61. McGrath crossed the finish line in a team season-best time of 2:32.05.
Four other team season-best marks were recorded on the track at New Hampshire as sophomore Vuong Tran (Worcester, Mass.) finished second in the 55-meter dash in 6.65 seconds. Freshman Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) took second in the one mile at 4:28.06 and sophomore John Cicchitti (Warminster, Pa.) finished third in the 3,000 in 8:55.72. The 4x800-meter relay team comprised of sophomore Jake Griffin (Billerica, Mass.), junior Tom Santa Maria (Winchester, Mass.), junior Sean Hagan (Reading, Mass.) and junior Jorge Rojas (Manchester, N.H.) finished second at 8:40.22.
Freshman Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) and sophomore Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) also recorded team season-bests in the field events. Dunn took second in the pole vault at 3.96 meters while Carey finished fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.30 meters. Freshman Christopher Faries (Rye, N.Y.) added a top-three finish in the triple jump, landing at 11.65 meters.
The men's indoor track and field team will return to action on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Joe Donahue Invitational.
