BOSTON, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's indoor track and field team began the 2012-2013 campaign at the Jay Carisella Invitational in Boston on Saturday. Junior Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) led the team with a fourth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.64 seconds.
Other top performers for the Crusaders included junior Paul Coulter (Lakeville, Mass.) who finished behind Moczula in seventh place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.75 seconds. Sophomore Vuong Tran (Worcester, Mass.) took ninth in the 60-meter dash (7.25), qualifying for the final heat as an alternate. Freshman Jim Polewaczyk (Falmouth, Maine) was the top rookie runner for Holy Cross, taking 14th in the 400-meter dash (52.82).
In the field events, freshman Rob Cacace (Yonkers, N.Y.) finished 11th in the shot put with a throw of 12.27 meters and 15th in the long jump with a distance of 5.57 meters. Sophomore Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) took 12th in the weight throw with a distance of 11.68 meters.
The men's indoor track and field team will return to action on Dec. 8 at the Harvard Open.
