Men's Track & Field Concludes 2012 Outdoor Season

  • The Holy Cross men's track and field team wrapped up the 2011-2012 season at the New England Outdoor Championship last weekend at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Thirty-eight teams competed in the meet with Rhode Island taking home the championship with a total of 169 points.
  • Senior Chase Bradford (West Bridgewater, Mass.) led the Crusaders with a sixth place finish in the javelin throw on day one of competition. Sophomore Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) placed seventh in the 800-meter run on day two. The 4x400-meter relay team comprised of freshman Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) sophomore Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.), freshman Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) and McGrath finished 11th.
  • The Crusaders will lose eight seniors to graduation including captains Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.), Bradford, Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.), Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.) and Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.). Chandler Fenner (Virginia Beach, Va.), Michael Millard (Manhasset, N.Y.) and Joe Tutino (Taunton, Mass.) round out the 2012 senior class.
  • Altenau and sophomore Greg Hamalian (West Bridgewater, Mass.) set personal best times at the Patriot League Outdoor Championship (5/5) and McGrath set a career mark at the New England Outdoor Championship (5/12). Altenau ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:14.58, Hamalian the 1,500-meter in 4:00.28 and McGrath the 800-meter 1:53.27.
