Men's Track & Field Set To Host Outdoor Patriot League Championship

- The men's track and field team will host the 2012 outdoor track and field championship on Friday-Saturday, May 4-5, at the Hart Track. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.
- The Crusaders finished in eighth place in last year's outdoor Patriot League Championship. Seniors Chase Bradford (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) led the team with a second and fourth place finish, respectively. Bradford finished second in the javelin throw with a distance of 57.83 meters and Altenau crossed the finish line in fourth with a time of 9:23.50 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Senior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) claimed eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.23 meters and the 4x100-meter relay team comprised of sophomore Ross Davies (Salem, N.H.), graduate Alex Johnson, senior Chandler Fenner (Virginia Beach, Va.) and sophomore Andrew Zitnik (Warren, Ohio) finished sixth with a time of 42.52 seconds.
- This is the first time since the 2006 season that Holy Cross has hosted the eight-team meet and the Crusaders will be looking for its first outdoor track and field championship. Since the conference championship began in 1991, Army has won 17 titles, including 16 in a row from 1992-2007. Bucknell is the two-time defending champion and has three total titles and Navy rounds out the past champions with a 2008 victory.
