Men's Track & Field Readies For Two Meets This Week

- The men's track and field team will participate in two meets this week beginning today, April 24, at 3:00 p.m. when the Crusaders welcome New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Worcester State to the Hart Track. Holy Cross will then travel to the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday, April 29, for a scheduled 10:30 a.m. start.
- Last year, Holy Cross finished third of the four teams that will also be participating in Tuesday's meet this season. Rhode Island finished first with 217 points, New Hampshire took second with 154, and Holy Cross (136) and Worcester State (113) rounded out the field. Senior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) finished first and qualified for the New England Championship in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:29.08. Sophomore Ross Davies (Salem, N.H.) added two top-five finishes taking second in the 100 meter dash (11.22 seconds) and fifth in the 200 meter dash with at time of 22.65 seconds.
- At the 2011 Brown Springtime Invitational, sophomore Dylan Villescas (Las Cruces, N.M.) finished third in the steeplechase with a time of 9:59.33 to lead the Crusaders. Sophomore Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) took fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.89 seconds.
- The Crusaders are coming off two meets hosted at the Hart Track. Sophomore Amenawon Johnson (Framingham, Mass.) represented the Crusaders in the Holy Cross Decathlon on Wednesday and Thursday, April 18-19, and earned 4,457 points. The Crusaders then finished in second place as a team in a full-squad home meet on Saturday, April 21.
