Men's Track & Field Takes Second In First Home Meet
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's track and field team hosted six teams at the Hart Track on Saturday and finished in second place. Maine finished first with 206 points and Holy Cross ended the day with 139 points. Freshman Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) finished first in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.46 to lead the Crusaders. Senior Chase Bradford (West Bridgewater, Mass.) also finished first in the javelin throw with a distance of 54.89 meters.
Senior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) took second in the triple jump with a distance of 14.13 meters and senior Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.) finished second behind Dutton in the 800 meter with a time of 1:54.20. Madsen also finished third in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:38.48. Sophomore Ross Davies (Salem, N.H.) recorded a pair of third place finishes with a time of 11.09 in the 100 meter dash and 22.00 flat in the 200 meter dash. Freshman John Cicchitti (Warminster, Pa.) crossed the finish line in third place in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:57.09 and senior Joe Tutino (Taunton, Mass.) took third in the javelin with a distance of 46.02 meters.
Seven other Crusaders recorded top five finishes including senior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.), sophomores Muhammad Javaid (Worcester, Mass.), Dylan Villescas (Las Cruces, N.M.), Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.) and freshmen Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) and Joseph Seebode (Clark, N.J.). Fourth place finishers included Altenau in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:28.06, Seebode in the 5,000 with a time of 16:22.57 and Galasso who finished the 400 meter with a time of 49.62.
The men's track and field will return to action on Tuesday, April 24, hosting New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Worcester State at the Hart Track at 3:00 p.m.
