Men's Track And Field Preps For First Outdoor Meet At Husky Spring Open

  • The outdoor track and field season is set to begin on Saturday, March 24, at the Husky Spring Open at Northeastern in Boston, Mass. Last season, graduate Alex Johnson led the way for the Crusaders with a third place finish in the 400 meter with a time of 53.17 seconds. Sophomore Ross Davies (Salem, N.H.) took 10th in the 100 meter (11.92 seconds) and 12th in the 200 meter (24.64 seconds). A pair of Crusader sophomores finished in the top five of the 110 meter hurdles. Sophomore Thomas St. Cyr (Temple, N.H.) took third with a time of 16.80 seconds and sophomore Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) finished fifth at 16.85 seconds.
  • In last year's field events, senior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.15 meters.
  • Two Crusaders set or tied school records during the indoor track season. Martin set a new record in the triple jump with a distance of 43'10.5'' (13.37 meters) at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 3. He then set the current distance of 45'07.25'' (13.90 meters) at Harvard on Dec. 10. Davies tied the school record set in 1990 in the 200 meter dash crossing the finish line at 22.36 seconds at the New England Indoor Championship on Feb. 24.
