Men's Track And Field Competes In Final Day Of Patriot League Championship
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The men's track and field team competed in the third and final day of action at the Patriot League Championship on Sunday with senior Chandler Fenner (Virginia Beach, Va.) leading the way for the Crusaders finishing fourth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.04 seconds after recording a time of 6.96 seconds in the semifinal. Fenner also recorded seventh place finishes in the triple jump with a distance of 13.81 meters and long jump with a distance of 6.88 meters.
Sophomore Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass. ) and freshman Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) took eighth in their respective events. McGrath recorded a time of 1:57.61 in the 800 meter run and in the 400 meter dash Galasso crossed the finish line at 51.16 seconds. Senior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) recorded a time of 8:32.50 in the 3,000 meter run and sophomore Timothy Moczula (Edison, N.J.) finished at 8.71 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, each finishing in 10th place.
In the relays, the 4x800 team consisting of freshman Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.), senior Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.), sophomore Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and McGrath finished fifth with a time of 7:45.05 and the 4x400 team of Galasso, sophomore Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.), Dutton and McGrath took sixth with a 3:29.23 finish.
Bucknell won the Patriot League Championship with a team total of 185 points. Navy finished second with 176.25 points followed by Army with 106.
Selected members of the men's track and field team will compete next weekend, Feb. 25-26, in the New England Indoor Championship.
