Scoreboard: No Team Scores at Holy Cross New Year's Field Day, Worcester, Mass., 1/3

- The Holy Cross men's track and field team continues action over the winter break when it travels to compete at the Rhode Island Sorlien Memorial Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14 as well as the Yale Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14.
- Last year was the first year the Holy Cross Crusaders participated in Rhode Island's Sorlien Memorial Invitational. They finished fifth overall and were led by Holy Cross graduate Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) who placed first in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:55.54. In the 800, senior Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.) placed second with a time of 1:58.96, while sophomore Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.) placed third with a time of 2:00.16. In the field events, the Crusaders were led by senior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) with a second place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.89 meters.
The Holy Cross men's track and field team did not compete in the Yale Invitational last season, but did compete down at Yale the previous six seasons. In the 2009-2010 season, graduate Kyle Rougeot (Torrington, Conn.) led the Crusaders in the distance events with a 14th place finish in the 3,000 with a time of 8:56.63.
- The Holy Cross Crusaders hosted the New Year's Field Day event, and were led by sophomore Kyle Carr (Westerly R.I.) and sophomore Ben Dapaah-Afriyie (Attleboro, Mass.) who both finished with respective showings in the weight throw and shot put. Carr led the Crusaders in the weight throw finishing 10th with a distance of 12.17 meters and also finished 13th in the shot put with a distance of 10.59 meters. Dapaah-Afriyie led the Crusaders in the shot put with a distance of 11.41 meters finishing in ninth while also throwing for a distance of 12.10 meters in the weight throw finishing in 12th.
