Men’s Track & Field Competes At Two Different Competitions

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's track and field team competed in the Crowell Open and Tiger Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 7. The Crowell Open was hosted by Army and the Tiger Invitational was hosted by Roxbury Community College which was held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

At the Crowell Open, the Crusaders were led by sophomore Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) who placed fifth in the 1,000 with a time of 2:39.77. The Crusaders also had good showings from freshman Joseph Seebode (Clark, N.J.) and sophomore Thomas St. Cyr (Temple, N.H.). Seebode placed 27th with a time of 9:59.14 in the 3,000. St. Cyr recorded a 16th place finish in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.05 seconds.

At the Tiger Invitational, the Crusaders had strong finishes by three underclassman throwers. Freshman Nolan Kiernan (Wakefield, R.I.) was the top Crusader in the shot put finishing in eighth place with a distance of 11.22 meters. Finishing right behind Kiernan was sophomore Kyle Carr (Westerly, R.I.) who finished in ninth with a distance of 10.71 meters. Leading the Crusaders in the weight throw was freshman Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) finishing in sixth place, throwing a distance of 12.16 meters.

Holy Cross will compete next at the Rhode Island Sorlien Memorial Invitational and Yale Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14.
