- The Holy Cross men's track and field team wrapped up its 2010-2011 season at the New England Outdoor Championship last weekend. Thirty-six teams from six states traveled to the Jess Dow Field in New Haven, Conn., where the Crusaders took 22nd place. Southern Connecticut State won the title with 110 points.
- Junior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:19.56. Senior Chris Bergan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) came in 13th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:16.11, while senior Brendan Medeiros (Fall River, Mass.) was 17th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:58.25. Junior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) earned an 18th place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.16 meters and senior Alex Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) was 21st in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.66. Junior Chase Bradford (West Bridgewater, Mass.) also scored points for the Crusaders, finishing eighth in the javelin with a throw of 58.02 meters.
- Nine seniors concluded their varsity careers at the New England Championship last weekend. Johnson led the Crusaders this season with an eighth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles at the 2011 Patriot League Outdoor Championship. Bergan ran personal-best times in the 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000 meter races, while senior James Fletcher (Woburn, Mass.) ran a career-best time in the 800.
- In the field events, the Crusaders were led by seniors Kenneth McKenna (Ossining, N.Y.) and Tim Paquette (Malden, Mass.). McKenna threw a personal best distance in the hammer throw, while Paquette threw personal-best distances in the discus throw and hammer throw. Bradford recorded a personal-best distance of 58.65 meters in the javelin at the American International Invitational.
